December 8th meeting at the Presbyterian Church and Fire Island Campout December 10th & 11th

Troop 301,

Remember that we are meeting at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Smithtown for the December 8th and 22nd troop meetings.

It will be SPL elections. Alex, Spencer and Michael are running (Remember ASM)

Mr. Becker will be acting scoutmaster for this meeting.

As for the FINS campout,,,,The weather looks like it should be real good but on the cold side. Pack enough “layers” to stay warm or be able to remove layers while working to avoid overheating and getting wet with sweat.

Bug repellant is suggested as we have not yet had a hard enough frost to kill off all the ticks.

Mr. Herrmann is the tour leader for this campout and has asked that we meet at the SJL Church at 7:00 am for a departure at 7:15 am. There is a draw bridge timing issue that needs to be managed and being across it by about 8:00 am avoids the problem.

As this is officially a “Wilderness” area, there are regulations for the use of the land. Read those regulations by clicking HERE

An agenda for the campout can also be found by clicking HERE

REMINDERS: December 1st meeting at Norway Hall and FINS permission slips due

Troop 301,

Remember that we will not meet at the church for the entire month of December. The December 1st meeting will be at Norway Hall. It is on the corner of 7th Street and 4th Avenue (2 blocks east of the church and one north from Woodlawn)

There are only a few parking spots in front of the hall so please leave those for handycap access and scout drop off.

The building is small so we will be tightly packed inside. If you are not a scout and plan to stay for the meeting, please park in the large lot by the church youth hall/office and walk the two blocks up to Norway Hall.

PERMISSION SLIPS are due as are GEAR REQUEST forms for the Fire Island National Seashore campout on 12/10-12/11.

The program will be Recycle-Reduce-Reuse presented by scouts Grant H., Tommy H., and James O.
