Philadelphia Trip April 5-6

Liberty_Bell_2008This weekend is the Troop’s annual Historic Trails trip. This time we will be going to Philadelphia to walk the Freedom Trail there.

We will meet at the church Saturday at 6:15 a.m. We will drive to the campsite, set up, and then drive to the train station. This Thursday we will need to coordinate so that every Scout has a ride.

The camp is at Pine Hill Scout Reservation. The GPS address is 120 Watsontown Rd., Pine Hill, N.J.

We will have printed train schedules and directions to the train station. It’s 13 minutes away from camp and there is free parking. On Saturday the train runs about every 20 minutes.  EACH BOY WILL NEED $6 FOR TRAIN TICKET ($3 EACH WAY).  We take the Lindenwold Line to 8th & Market, and start at the Visitors Center/Liberty Bell with a movie. The hike is 5.5 miles to 7.8 miles depending on the route.

We printed the walking tour guides for each Scout and adult.

Patrols will have to cook dinner and breakfast.  Everyone brings a lunch and beverage for lunch on the trail. Propane is recommended at Scout camp.

Class A uniforms required while driving and hiking the Trail of Freedom.
