The weather conditions in Alpine will be severe enough that Alpine Scout Camp has advised we don’t go. We were hoping for an exciting snow campout but safety is always our first consideration. The consistent snow fall followed by freezing rain in the evening will create very heavy snow conditions for tent camping, but we can manage that. Road conditions remain very questionable, first we must beat the forecasted beginning of snowfall Saturday morning then pray for non-icy roads on Sunday after a night of freezing rain. I know some of you bought food, hopefully it can be used for the next campout; others were looking to accomplish some requirements. Winter camping is a rewarding experience and creates great memories, however unsafe roads are no place for a car full of scouts.
Enjoy your weekend.
