More bad news for our Troop 301 family

All,

I received a call Monday evening from Ed Spear.

Ken Anello was there doing the snow plowing for the church and relayed Ed the bad news.

This past Christmas evening, Ken’s father’s heart went into arrest and they rushed him to the hospital.

Unfortunately, the elder Anello did not have the strength to recover and passed away on Sunday December 26th.

As many of you can remember, Ken lost his mother not 3 years ago (April 2008) while we were on our Washington D.C. trip.

Ken and his dad were very close so this, I’m sure, is a rough time for him.

Ken’s dad will be waked at the Hawkins & Davis Funeral Home in Smithtown.

Viewing ours are 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm on WEDNESDAY December 29th ONLY.

Ken stated the dress is “Class C” (as in neat casual attire) but I plan to attend in Full Class A’s to show my respects.

Please make every effort to show your respects to him and the family at this sad time.

Send a Holiday card to our troops overseas

Troop 301

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL

If you go to www.LetsSayThanks.com and pick out a thank you card, Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq .

Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.

It’s FREE, takes just 10 seconds and is a wonderful way to say thank you to our armed services.  Please take the time to send a card and pass it on for others to do.  We can never say thank you enough.

More happening at St. James Plaza (7:00 – 7:15 pm 12/14/2010)

Troop 301,

As you all know, our regular meeting will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday 12/16 at the St. James Plaza (adjacent to the park). For details click HERE

In addition, the home has invited us and our families to the Plaza for their annual tree lighting. (7:00 pm Tuesday 12/14)

I will be attending but this is optional and should be looked at as the boys being CHEERFUL and KIND. It is the right thing to do but I also understand how busy this month is.

Make your best effort and I will not require uniforms for this. I’d rather you be there to show support than be dressed in full class A.

Thursday is a different story…Full class A with your WRAPPED secret Santa gift(s).

Thanks,

Mr. Bauer

(Updated) December 11th Church Service Project

Troop 301,

All scouts who have recently ranked up, your service time has been reset to ZERO. This counts toward your next advancement.

Please watch this post (it may be updated as time passes). The current plan is to start at 11:00 AM on Saturday 12/11/2010.

Currently, the SJLC (Ed Spear) has asked us to help with the following:

-Rake and bag leaves around the office, church, parsonage

-Rake leaves and bag along curbs around church

-Pick up and drain all outside hoses and return them to the garage

-Pick up all sprinklers and water timers

-Tree on parsonage driveway needs to have the lower limbs trimmed

Please either eat before you arrive or bring something to eat if you need fuel for the work. Bring work gloves!

If we get a dozen or so scouts, we should be done before 2:00 pm. A storm is expected Saturday night and all of Sunday followed by a deep freeze so this is our best shot to help the church.

Thanks to the following scouts for helping in the cleanup and stuffing ~150 bags of leaves:

  1. Rob C.
  2. Marcos P.
  3. Dean B.
  4. Harrison T.
  5. Harrison D.
  6. Scott M.
  7. Jacob M.
  8. Jack H.
  9. James B.
  10. Alex B.
  11. Zach Z.
  12. Weston Y.
  13. Ben C.
  14. Graham C.
  15. Bobby P.
  16. Luke C.

David Bauer, Joe Calamia, Bob Tokarski, Jim Donahue, Tom Hyland and Brian Bindert were there pitching in as well.

A scout is HELPFUL.
