Spring Camporee Theme Changed – For the better!
Posted by dmbauer in Announcements on March 1, 2010
The Spring Camporee held at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp on April 16th thru the 18th will no longer be a ”SERVICE” related theme and boys will not be ferried away from camp.
The new theme will be “BACK TO BASICS” (CAMP GADGETS and PIONEERING).
You know those knots you have been learning?…Well now you get to use them along with other skills!
OFFICIAL THEME is:
Baden Powell’s First Camporee – Back to Basics
There will be a gateway competition, campsite inspection, and camp gadget scoring all based on the “Baden Powell Era”. Campsites should be set up with the Baden Powell theme – all natural materials – wood, rope etc. In the morning the scouts can make their spears for the spear throwing and other camp gadgets for the judging – traps and other items of the times. In keeping in the era, no vehicles or trailers will be permitted in camp – use wagons or travois to transport your gear and supplies.
