New Instructors appointed

Troop 301,

At out last meeting on January 28th, new instructors were appointed and assigned to patrols by the SPL.

Patrol leaders need to include the instructors in patrol meetings as they are PART of your patrol and should be wearing that patrol’s patch.

Insructors are “Teachers” and “Mentors” and do not RULE the patrol. The instructor is there to answer scout questions and teach the skills need to be good patrol leaders and scouts.

Instructor is a TROOP leadership position and is therefore able to qualify the boy for advancement if he does his job.

Leadership positions require 2/3 attendance in all meetings and events (read the bylaws).

If you have questions as to what boys were assigned instructor roles in which patrols, please contact Mr. Bauer.

Training materials added

Troop 301,

These materials will not substitute for missing the training but it may help give those that read them an overview.

They are a good reminder for those that did attend.

Please click on the links in the Training tab to download the PowerPoint presentations from Mr. Tokarski, Mr. Bauer, Mr. Trutner and Mr. Ettari respectively.

Patrol Meeting Agenda Form

For all of you that attended the Patrol Leaders meeting at my house on Saturday, I have added a link to the Patrol Meeting Agenda Form on the forms page of the website. Please use this form to plan your patrol meetings and send them out to the patrol members prior to the meeting.

Update them as needed at the meeting and turn them in to the SPL at the next PLC after your meeting.

I’d really like you guys to be having at least a patrol meeting every month PRIOR to the PLC and also another PRIOR to every campout.

Let’s keep everyone informed and PREPARED.

Troop Merit Badge Counselors

Many of the merit badges have merit badge counselors within Troop 301, which makes it much easier to complete the badges.

There is a list of all the troop merit badge counselors on the website.

There’s knot a lot to it!

Hello everyone, if you don’t already know this month’s theme is knots and lashings. Here is a good site filled with pretty much all the knots a boy scout should ever need. I am putting a challenge out to all scouts, if you can tie for me one of the none-basic knots from this site and I give you a prize! By the way, today (thursday, Jan 14th) we will be going over Lashings, so you might want to go over some of them.
Keep up the good work,
Travis http://www.oktroop17.org/knots/Knots_Home.html
