Checklist for Troop Swim
Posted by Frank in Announcements on December 13, 2009
Mr. Ettari writes:
Below is a list of items to do/have for tomorrow night’s troop swim (boy scouts only are swimming, not family members) at the Hauppauge High School Pool:
Wear your bathing suit under a pair of sweats so you are ready to go swimming.
Bring dry clothes, a towel, and a plastic grocery bag for wet items (so you don’t go home cold and get mom/dad’s car all wet).
There is a locker room for changing and showering afterward.
Goggles, if needed for medical reasons, are only allowed if they cover the eyes only (no nose covering goggles allowed)
Plan to arrive at 6:45 PM to sign in (furthest set of double doors from the entrance to the student parking lot, the northernmost lot on HHS grounds adjacent to Route 111 and just south of the intersection of Townline Road and 111).
After opening (US flag is hung there), we will enter the water around 7 PM for a BSA swim test and leave the water at 8:15 PM for closing.
By BSA rules, bring your completed BSA Health Form (old or new style) with you or you will not be allowed to swim!!!
Friendly reminder to older scouts: scouts are not allowed to drive to or from any scouting functions so please make driving arrangements accordingly.
See you tomorrow night
Jan 8-10 Winter Camporee Info
Posted by nekollena in Announcements on December 13, 2009
Troop 301 will be staying at the Shinnecock Cabin at the Winter Camporee at Baiting Hollow. There is limited space inside the cabin. The Troop has decided that the cabin will be occupied by first year scouts FIRST, then second year scouts and the so on until the cabin is filled up.
Also remember that PERMISSION SLIPS for that campout are due at the Dec 17th meeting. The new medical form will be due by the Jan 7th meeting. Medical forms are REQUIRED to participate. You only need to complete Part A and Part C (not the parts that require a doctor’s signature). Medical forms can be downloaded from the Forms page.

Medical forms needed – Urgent
Posted by Frank in Announcements, Resources on December 12, 2009
All unit members (scouts and registered adults) are now required by BSA to have a complete current medical form on file. The medical form can be downloaded from the Forms page.
Please plan to complete the form as soon as possible to hand to your patrol leader during the meeting Thursday. You must have at least parts A and C completed and handed in to go to the Winter Camporee in January.
Parts A and C need to be completed annually by all BSA unit members for all events that do not exceed 72 hours (weekend campouts). This does not need to be completed by a doctor.
Part A – Medical information required includes a current health history and list of medications. If you have your immunization dates you do not need to have this completed by a physician.
Part C – includes the parental informed consent and hold harmless/release agreement as well as a talent release statement (this means if Council takes pictures they can use them in their literature).
Part B – is required for any event that exceeds 72 hours or for any activity considered strenuous. Part B must be completed and signed by a certified and licensed health-care provider—physician (MD, DO), nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant.
I suggest that everyone try and have all 3 parts completed so we don’t have any issues.
– Mr. McGarry
